West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is pleased to support the new ‘Food for Thought’ children’s initiative as part of Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) Health for Kids campaign as featured on their website at www.healthforkids.co.uk .

It is really important to find ways to encourage children to eat healthily. By getting them involved and creating awareness about food it will help them better understand the right way to eat. The ‘Food for Thought’ is an interactive healthy eating quiz which helps in myth-busting, and encourages children to think about the food they eat. This is a really innovative way of making children participate and we wholeheartedly support ‘Food for Thought’.

The quiz uses a ‘play your cards right’ format, putting children’s understanding of the relative fat, sugar and salt content of a range of foods to the test in a fun and thought-provoking way. So, if you’ve ever wondered how the fat content of a samosa compares to a sausage roll, or whether a fizzy drink or a milkshake has more sugar, Food for Thought will reveal all.

All the content on Health for Kids, a website specifically designed with and for primary school children to help them learn about staying healthy, has been written by experts from across LPT services, and ‘Food for Thought’ is no exception. It encourages children to make healthy choices, emphasising the importance of a balanced diet for energy and wellbeing.
