Killer disease patients told “It’s not too late”

18th November 2013

West Leicestershire people who suffer from an incurable lung condition are being assured that it’s not too late to manage the disease and improve their everyday lives.

The message coincides with World COPD Day (20 November), the key date in a global campaign aimed at raising awareness of the potentially fatal condition.

COPD is an umbrella term for a number of conditions which prematurely age the lungs. It stands for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. World COPD Day’s main message to sufferers is: “It’s not too late” - to tackle the impact of COPD on your life.

Treatment for diabetes aims to help people with the condition control their blood glucose levels and minimise the risk of developing complications.

Patients come first for Dr Nick Pulman

8th November 2013

Dr Nick Pulman has today sadly announced that he is to step aside from his role as Chair of West Leicester Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) from January 2014.

The decision to step aside from the healthcare organisation was not an easy one for Dr Pulman.

Over the last month several key members of staff at his GP surgery have decided on career changes, and this has caused a significant pressure on the ability of the remaining partners to manage the surgery without him.

Think pharmacist first!

1st November 2013

'Think pharmacist first. They can provide much more than just a prescription' - that's the message from West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (WL CGG).

As part of Ask Your Pharmacist week, which takes place from the 4 to 11 November, West Leicestershire CCG is reminding local people that pharmacies can offer a wealth of health support.

This is particularly important at this time of year, when people may need advice on coughs, colds, sore throats, flu, sickness, diarrhoea and other common winter problems.
