NHS leaders back ‘Antibiotic Guardians’ campaign

Leicestershire NHS leaders are backing a campaign against the unnecessary use of antibiotics and encouraging members of the public and healthcare workers to sign up to become ‘Antibiotic Guardians’.

Dr David Jenkins, Consultant Medical Microbiologist at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, is urging health professionals and patients to think twice before using antibiotics, when an alternative treatment would be more appropriate.

West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), who are the people that buy health services, is inviting everyone interested in health care services in Hinckley and surrounding area to work with them to design future healthcare services.

The CCG wants anyone interested in improving community services in Hinckley to help them plan a vision of great care, so that better, more person-centred care can be delivered to local people.
