Local team attend Downing Street reception

Health and care staff and patients from the System Resilience Group for Leicester Leicestershire & Rutland attended a special reception hosted by the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street on Monday (23 November 2015).

Toby Sanders, Managing Director of West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group and Philip Parkinson, a local patient champion, joined more than 100 other NHS and care staff at the event. They were also joined by patients and patient representatives.

Diabetes patients urged to get vaccinated from flu

Patients living with diabetes are being urged by health leaders from across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to get the flu jab this winter as their illness makes them more at risk from complications such as pneumonia.

The three clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in the area, West Leicestershire CCG, East Leicestershire and Rutland CCG and Leicester City CCG have come together to raise awareness around World Diabetes Day, that diabetes patients are at risk from the flu.

Health commissioners reassure patients that services are safe

Health commissioners are reassuring patients registered at Barrow Health Centre that services at the practice are safe and actions are being taken to address concerns about standards in quality following the publication of a Quality Report by the Care Quality Commissioning (CQC).

The CQC announced it has placed the Barrow practice in Special Measures following an inspection in June 2015 in which services have been rated overall as Inadequate.
