Two local GPs from West Leicestershire will be championing the needs of patients and GPs in the area, as a newly appointed Governing Body members for NHS West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Dr Nil Sanganee, 40, a GP in Ashby-de-le-Zouch and Dr. James Ogle, 32, a GP in Hinckley and Bosworth will be joining the Governing Body, who oversees the planning and purchasing of health services in West Leicestershire.

Dr. Sanganee has been a GP for 13 years and is currently a partner at the Castle Medical Group. Passionate about GP education he also works as a GP trainer and medical student tutor for the Royal College of GPs.

Dr Sanganee, who will be the CCG’s Locality Lead for North West Leicestershire for the next two years, said: “I’ve been working with the CCG on two of their committees for some time, but now in this new role I hope to offer hands-on support to practices to improve quality. As a local GP I listen to patients’ views and hope to use this knowledge to improve the service that patients experience locally.

“At the end of my two years on the Board I would like to see a more robust care environment, providing high-quality care for patients in West Leicestershire.”

Dr Ogle has been working as GP in Hinckley and Bosworth locality for two years and is the Senior Partner at Ratby Surgery. Until recently he has been very involved in local health care development through his work with the Hinckley and Bosworth Medical Alliance.

Dr Ogle said: “I’ve been working with the CCG on local health care issues for patients in Hinckley and West Leicestershire for the last 18 months through the local Hinckley and Bosworth Medical Alliance. Through my work for the CCG I want to continue to Dr Willmott’s hard work on developing community and urgent care services and also to continue to look at and develop services for our patients in their local area.”

Dr Sanganee and Dr Ogle will be on the Board for the next two years, replacing Dr Liz Hepplewhite from Whitwick Health Centre in Coalville and Dr. Nick Willmott from CastleMead Medical Group in Hinckley, both of whom are retiring this year.

Professor Mayur Lakhani, Chair of the NHS West Leicestershire CCG, said: “I want to thank Dr Hepplewhite and Dr Willmott for the difference that they have made to the care of patients across West Leicestershire. Dr Willmott has championed the changes made to urgent care across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland as well as leading on the work to improve community health services in Hinckley and Bosworth. Dr. Hepplewhite chaired the Leicester Medicines Strategy Board, and the work she has done with our local nursing and residential homes to understand how we can work together with staff, residents and their loved ones to improve their experiences how been invaluable. I wish them both well in their retirement.”

“With Dr Sanganee’s experience in general practice both locally, but also in his work with the Royal College of GPs, and Dr Ogle’s experience in working through the Hinckley and Bosworth Medical Alliance, I’m sure they will both be real assets to the team.”

Both GPs will be continuing in their roles as GPs in their local practices throughout their time with West Leicestershire CCG.
