Local residents and organisations in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland have been invited to meet the new non-emergency patient transport (NEPT) provider on Tuesday 26 September 2017.
The event which runs from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the NSPCC National Training Centre, 3 Gilmour Close, LE4 1EZ, is an opportunity for local people to hear about the service and personally meet and chat to transport staff from the newly appointed provider, TASL, who take over providing the service locally at the beginning of October.
Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, who are responsible for designing and buying healthcare services for people are hosting the event in partnership with TASL and are keen for patients, service users, carers, NHS and social care staff, patient groups and voluntary and community sector organisations to come along.
Tamsin Hooton, Director of Urgent and Emergency Care for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland said: “Over the last few months the CCGs have been working closely with patients, carers and staff to design and improve non-emergency patient transport services.”
“This event marks the start of a new patient-centred service and is a great opportunity for local people to hear how the service aims to meet the needs of local people and improve patient experience from the point of first contact when the booking is made, through to returning home. It is also a great opportunity to ask a range of questions about every aspect of the service including eligibility and how to book.”
Regional Director for TASL, Stewart Briggs, said: “We’re keen to meet with patients, healthcare professionals and anyone who may be a service user or involved with the service or have an interest in non-emergency patient transport.
“We want to learn about you and also provide you with the opportunity to know more about us. We encourage anyone interested to visit us at the event where we will be showing you what we’ll be providing and how we can develop an increasingly tailored service from day one. We will use this opportunity to listen to previous experiences and use this insight to help us model a better service to the community.”
“We are bringing a multitude of team members from different parts of the organisation, which includes front-line staff, control and call-centre team members and staff from the management team.”
The event follows a series of engagement exercises with local patients, carers and staff, to ensure effective, safe, appropriate and timely non-emergency transport services are available to patients in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
