NHS leaders are inviting Hinckley and Bosworth people to take part in a key stage in shaping future community health services in the area.

They want people to attend one of two events where they will work with NHS staff, members of the voluntary and community sector to assess the possibilities for the future of community health services and help establish what is feasible and appropriate for the future.

The events are an important step in shaping West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group’s (CCG) policies for the future of community health services in the Hinckley and Bosworth area.

Dr Nick Willmott, a GP in Hinckley and West Leicestershire CCG’s Clinical Lead for Hinckley Community Health Services Review, said: “Over the past few months we have been working with local GPs, frontline healthcare staff, patients and carers to understand their experiences of healthcare and find out what matters most to them. This led to a shared vision of what community health services in the local area could look like and the steps we would need to take to achieve that change.

“We’ve undertaken a great deal of work to complement these insights, including forecasting what future demand for services will be, and looking at our buildings and how suitable they are to meet future demand. We are also making sure we have staff with the rights skills to care for our patients and ensuring that services now and in the future offer the best value for money for our patients from the resources we have.”

West Leicestershire CCG is holding two events to work with patients, carers and frontline staff to look at how they can provide services that keep people well and help them to recover as soon as possible when they are unwell.

These events will be held at Hinckley Golf Club on Monday 5 October 2015 - one in the afternoon and one in the evening. The events will be the same each time, the repetition is to ensure as many people as possible can attend and have an input. The first is from 12.30pm to 3.30pm, and the second is from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Light refreshments will be available.

Dr Willmott explained: “We’re inviting people to take part in the next steps in shaping community healthcare services in Hinckley and Bosworth and the surrounding area. At these workshops we want to tell people what we have learnt and share the range of possible ways we could shape and improve services based on the evidence we’ve gathered. Together we will then work through the challenges we will need to overcome and the opportunities that each of the possibilities present. We will then work out what is feasible and appropriate for the community.”

The events are expected to be popular so please register by calling 0116 295 4183, or emailing communications@westleicestershireccg.nhs.uk or visit www.westleicestershireccg.nhs.uk and sign up online.
