Public invited to join health leaders at Conference and AGM

14th August 2017

Members of the public have been invited to attend West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group’s Conference, Annual General Meeting (AGM), and Exhibition, which takes place on Monday, 11 September at Hollywell Court.

The event, which runs from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, is an opportunity for local people to come and hear about the work that has gone on to deliver and improve local health care services, and will focus on how the CCG are integrating services to improve care for patients in West Leicestershire.

The Conference will allow attendees the opportunity to get involved and share their ideas. Presentations will be made by CCG chair, Mayur Lakhani, and Managing Director, Toby Sanders. Together, they will summarise the achievements, challenges, and developments of the past year, as well as providing an update on the progress of the Better Care Together partnership (the five-year programme, which works to improve health services in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland).

Attendees will also have a chance to hear about how better coordination of care is supporting patients at the end of their life, helping them to manage long – term and chronic conditions and respond to their urgent and immediate care needs. Additionally, the exhibition will let participants meet and chat with a number of staff members from health and care organisations, who will be on hand to give an insight into their day-to-day workload.

Professor Mayur Lakhani, Chair of West Leicestershire CCG, said: “We would encourage anyone who has an interest in the local NHS to come and join us at our AGM. The event, which will involve a conference and exhibition, as well as the AGM, is a unique opportunity for members of the public to come along and find out more about the local health services, and share their thoughts with us about what they might look like in the future. “The AGM and conference is always a popular event, because it gives members of the public a real insight into the decisions taken by the CCG and also displays the dedication of our staff members and those of our partners. “Last year’s was a very popular event and we are keen that even more people attend this year’s, to make it an even greater success.”
