Patients, carers and members of the public are invited to hear more about the findings of a review which looked at patient experiences of NHS services and the quality of care provided, and to share their experiences of the care system in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Three meetings, scheduled to be held during October and November, are the next steps in the process of improving care for patients since the publication of the Learning lessons to improve care quality review on 31 July 2014. They are an opportunity for patients, carers and families to hear about the findings of the review in more detail and ask questions. Patients, carers and family members can tell us about their lived experiences of care and their journey through the health and care system. These insights will help local partners to plan and design better quality health services.

The Learning lessons to improve care review was published by the three clinical commissioning groups representing Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, Leicester's Hospitals and Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust. The review looked at the healthcare patients had received throughout the patient journey who had died between March 2012 and June 2013.

Professor Mayur Lakhani, Chair of West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group and speaking on behalf of the local health partners said: "Quality of patient care is our number one priority. We know that people do not always get joined up care so we arranged for the review to undertaken to identify where improvements need to be made. I would urge patients and carers to come and tell us their experiences through these three public meetings. We are determined to make our care system the best it can be and need to know what matter to you."
