Choose Better this May Day Bank Holiday weekend

30th April 2014

Ahead of this year’s May Day Bank Holiday weekend, the CCG is encouraging people looking to make the most of their time off, by doing DIY, gardening or enjoying a day out, to Choose Better and use the right option should they suffer a minor illness or injury such as a bruise, sprain, minor wound or fracture.

We want to make sure everyone knows the best place to go in order to get the most suitable treatment as quickly as possible and leave A&E free for those who need it most.

Visit your pharmacist for allergy advice

24th April 2014

As part of Allergy Awareness Week (28 April to 4 May 2014), we are asking people to Choose Better by visiting their pharmacist to get advice on treatments for minor allergies.

Allergy is widespread in the UK, with around 21 million adults suffering from at least one allergy at some time in their lives. The numbers are increasing every year and as many as half of those affected are children according to the charity Allergy UK.

Depression Awareness Week

24th April 2014

We are supporting this year’s Depression Awareness Week (26 April to 3 May) by highlighting the mental health services available to local people.  This follows the appointment of a new provider of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) and Mental Health Facilitator services for Leicestershire earlier this month.

Everyone counts

4th April 2014

Over 100 people attended a pioneering event in Loughborough last week which for the first time involved patients and the public in the design of their local health and care services.

Hosted by the three clinical commissioning groups in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, the unique event was opened by the Professor Mayur Lakhani GP and the new Chair of West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group who organised the event.
