Feeling under the weather? Get on the Health Bus!

As the Met Office forecasts more unsettled weather – including rain, frost and fog –  an NHS ‘Health Bus’ is on its way to help people tackle winter ailments.

The NHS Health Bus is rolling into Leicester this week offering some timely mini check-ups and advice on winter wellbeing.

The launch of the Health Bus is the latest idea in the NHS three-month ‘Feeling under the weather?’ campaign to tackle common conditions – especially among people most at risk.

NHS leaders back ‘Antibiotic Guardians’ campaign

Leicestershire NHS leaders are backing a campaign against the unnecessary use of antibiotics and encouraging members of the public and healthcare workers to sign up to become ‘Antibiotic Guardians’.

Dr David Jenkins, Consultant Medical Microbiologist at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, is urging health professionals and patients to think twice before using antibiotics, when an alternative treatment would be more appropriate.

The CCG wants anyone interested in improving community services in Hinckley to help them plan a vision of great care, so that better, more person-centred care can be delivered to local people.

West Leicestershire NHS team shortlisted for national award

NHS West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has been shortlisted for a national award – just a few days after being named as one of the country’s top NHS workplaces.

The CCG is in line for one of the awards from the Health Service Journal (HSJ), the UK’s leading healthcare professionals’ magazine – a possible prize in the Primary Care Innovation category for their practice appraisal programme.

The award judges examined the way the CCG helps its 50 GP practices maintain high standards of care and cope with the many challenges of increasing patient demand.

NHS West Leicestershire group stages its first annual meeting

The organisation which annually pays for more than £360m of NHS services in West Leicestershire is this month staging its first annual general meeting.

And the public will have a chance to meet senior members of staff such as our Chief Nurse, Chief Executive, and some of our doctors face to face and ask them about their running of local healthcare.

West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group’s job is to plan and purchase NHS services for the local population of 366,000 in the boroughs of North West Leicestershire, Charnwood, and Hinckley & Bosworth.

West Leicestershire team in ‘top 10 NHS places to work’

West Leicestershire CCG has been named as one of the top 10 best places to work in the NHS.

The accolade comes from the Health Service Journal (HSJ), the UK’s leading healthcare professionals’ magazine.

HSJ has today (5 Sept) revealed its list of the 100 best NHS organisations to work for in England, including hospital trusts, community trusts, clinical commissioning groups and mental health trusts.
