Loughborough Urgent Care Centre officially opened by MP

The official opening of Loughborough Urgent Care Centre has been carried out by local MP Nicky Morgan, ahead of a busy Bank Holiday weekend, which saw the service used by 436 patients.

Among those attending Friday’s (24 May) launch at Loughborough Community Hospital were patient representative groups, councillors, members of voluntary and support organisations, East Midlands Ambulance Service, staff and others who have played a key role in helping to shape services provided by the new centre.

Public invited to give their views on GP Out of Hours service

West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group is inviting members of the public to have their say on plans to develop GP Out of Hours services across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.


A new contract for the Out of Hours service, which patients call for medical advice when their GP surgery is shut, together with the future NHS 111 phone service, will be commissioned jointly by West Leicestershire, East Leicestershire and Rutland and Leicester City CCGs.


Extension to NHS 111 local launch

It has today been announced that the roll-out of the new non-emergency NHS 111 telephone service in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) will now not launch in June as previously planned.

The decision has been made by the three clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) responsible for planning and buying many of the health services needed by patients in LLR, and which took over full responsibility from the previous primary care trusts on April 1, 2013.


Deciding Right guide helps to put patients in control

A new guide which tackles the difficult subject of care and treatment towards the end of a patient’s life is being launched during Dying Matters Awareness Week (13-19 May) across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.


Deciding Right – Planning your care in advance aims to help patients think about what care they may want to receive in the future should they become seriously ill, disabled or unable to make decisions for themselves.


Events offer special insights into the new NHS

More than a hundred people with a special interest in health are gaining important insights this week into how the new NHS works in Leicestershire.


West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (WL CCG) is holding two key events to share knowledge and listen to the views of specially invited groups.


The West Leicestershire Patient Participation Network event brings together people who represent fellow patients at their own surgeries. They met at Markfield Community and Sports Centre on Wednesday 17 April.


First Board meeting in the new NHS era

3rd April 2013

West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (WL CCG) is holding its first Board meeting as an NHS statutory body since the full scale of the NHS reforms took effect earlier this month.


The meeting will take place on Tuesday 9 April 2013, in Boardrooms 1 and 2 at the CCG’s offices, 55 Woodgate, Loughborough LE11 2TZ, starting at 1.30pm.
