Discussing community health services in Hinckley and Bosworth

timline: {}

Over the past months we have been to many events across the Hinckley and Bosworth area, from individual PPG meetings to larger community meetings to stakeholders events to talk about what we would like to do to develop services in the area as well as holding our own events.

We understand that not everyone is able to make these events so we've asked local GP and clinical lead on the West Leicestershire CCG board Dr. Nick Willmott and Chief Nurse and Quality Lead Caroline Trevithick to explain the work that has been done, and what we would like to see in the area in the future.

In the video they discuss how we would like to improve services for the people of Hinckley and keep them local. We want to make way for the introduction of bowel and other types of cancer screening locally and increase outpatients clinics at Hinckley Health Centre. This would mean moving all other outpatient services like x-ray and ultrasound into the Hinckley Health Centre and combining the endoscopy and the day case unit and moving it to either Sunnyside Hospital (Hinckley and Bosworth Community Hospital) or into the Hinckley Health Centre.

There will be a public consultation in which residents of Hinckley and Bosworth can let us know how the options for delivering health care will affect them. Following this public consultation the final decision to make any changes to services will be taken by the West Leicestershire CCG board. No services will be moved or changed until new ones are in place.
