Instagram like page ad 1080 x1080 0 00 09 0020West Leicestershire residents with any medical concerns this winter are being encouraged to call NHS 111.

NHS 111 is a free helpline provided by the NHS which is operated by fully trained advisers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These advisers will listen to your medical concerns and direct your call to the appropriate health care professional, such as a nurse, doctor or dentist.

The call handlers can also assess if you are in need of an ambulance and send one to you straight away.

NHS 111 is an excellent and really useful service that all local residents can benefit from if they need health advice. Calling 111 can save time that would be spent in a GP surgery or A&E and also takes some of the pressure off these services.

If you have any mobility issues or are having trouble leaving the house because of your illness, the NHS 111 helpline allows you to get help from the comfort of your own home. Also by calling NHS 111 instead of going out into the community, you will limit the spread of germs to vulnerable people.

NHS 111 advisers are also able to book you an appointment with your GP, give you self-care guidance or direct you to an appropriate, local service if need be.

Whatever the need is, NHS 111 will ensure that you get the right care, from the right person, as quickly as possible.
