Dr Ash Kothari, Hinckley and Bosworth Locality Lead

Dr Ash Kothari did his medical training locally and qualified from the Leicester University Medical School in 1983. He did various hospital jobs including A&E, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Rheumatology, General Medicine & Surgery before completing his GP training in 1988.

Apart from being a GP in Hinckley area, he worked as a Clinical Assistant in Surgery, GU Medicine, Community Paediatrics. His GP practice was the pioneer in providing GP-based surgical procedures to the local GPs and patients in the 1980s. He has done Occupational Medicine since 1993 and has been OH physician to large manufacturing companies such Toyota car plant in Burnaston, Peugeot car plant in Coventry, Triumph Motorcycles in Hinckley, JJ Churchills, AXA-PPP, Serco, G4S and local government including Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council, North Warwickshire County Council.

He was HSE approved Ionising Radiation and Hand-Arm Vibration OH physician. He taught medical students and was a GP trainer from 1993 to 2013. Ash also provided services to the Alcohol & Drugs agency and was involved in running the local methadone programme. Ash aims to encourage the NHS, and the CCG specifically, to provide near-patient and community based diagnostics tests and treatments away from 'bigunfriendly' hospitals with impossible car parking.
